Julie Curry

Job title: Membership Data Director

On the Brook Hills staff since: 2005

Birthday: August 19

Family: My husband David and I have been married for 13 wonderful years and have two precious children, Emma and Ethan. We also have a furry child, a golden retriever, named Patton.

David and I met while I was on a double date. He was the fifth wheel. Our relationship was long distance from Auburn to West Point. We only saw each other seven times before we were engaged. Our dates were few and far between but our phone calls were many. As you can imagine, our parents were less than thrilled with our phone bills.

Ministry Calling: I love to work "behind the scenes". My position on staff is wonderful because I get to help other ministries promote events and use technology for outreach. I love to help newcomers to our faith family feel welcome and plugged-in. My prayer is that God will use every event we promote for His purpose and glory.

What I Enjoy About Serving at Brook Hills: My favorite thing on a Sunday morning is welcoming guests and helping someone find there way. When I pass them in the hall the following Sunday, it is even better.

Interesting and Unusual Facts: I was born and raised in Birmingham (Irondale). However, I lived in Dayton, Tampa, and Los Angeles while David served in the Air Force. We returned to Sweet Home Alabama in 1999. I have been black water rafting in the caves of New Zealand and I have enjoyed a show at the Sydney Opera House. Before I became a mom, I was a biology geek. My previous career included cancer research at UAB, and enviromental consulting in Los Angeles.

My Relationship with Christ: After my parents divorced, when I was 13, my mother wanted to make church a priority in our lives. As a child, I had attended church briefly at Christmas and Easter but it had never been a weekly priority in our house. That summer my mother insisted that I go on a big youth trip to Gatlinburg. I was scared of "the whole church thing" and we argued all the way there and even as she put me on the van. It was on that trip that I realized my need for a Savior and accepted His free gift.

Unfortunately, it was not until College that I truly began a personal relationship with Jesus, including Him in my daily life and seeking Him out for every decision.

Favorite Movie of All Time: My Fair Lady, Ben Hur, Pride and Prejudice... Too many to choose from

Favorite Musical Group or Artist: The Steve Miller Band

Favorite Sports Team: War Eagle!

Favorite Thing to Do on a Saturday: Read, plant flowers, fish, play cards

Favorite Scripture: Psalm 121:1-2

Last Thing I Do Before Going to Bed: Take my Flintstones vitamin
