Fueling the Mission
The Worship Ministry at Brook Hills fuels the mission of the chuch--to glorify God as we make disciples of all nations. When we come together in a worship gathering, we praise God for what He has done and is doing in our lives and the lives of others, we petition Him in prayer and hear His voice as we pray, and we learn God's vision for our lives and how to follow His direction through the study of His Word.

Revelation and Response
Corporate worship is a rhythm of revelation and response. That is, when we gather, we listen to revelation from God's Word through music and teaching, and respond not only with our voices, but with our lives. The Worship Ministry at Brook Hills is dedicated to facilitating opportunities to worship and to respond to God's Word.

Biblical Non-Negotiables in Worship
As we study the Bible we begin to understand that worship is more than songs and styles. In fact, music is just one element by which we can worship God. When we think of what worship is, at the heart, we find five "non-negotiables" in Scripture that our Faith Family has embraced as foundational elements in our corporate worship times:

  • Humility. We approach God humbly--a worship gathering is not about us. God is the audience and we are the participants.

  • Honesty. We cannot fool God--we are only deceiving ourselves when we limit Him to a certain place, ourselves to a certain style or brand of music, and attempt to cover up who we really are. When we approach God honestly, our worship is no longer a hollow fascade.

  • Clarity. Central to corporate worship is God's Word, the Bible. All elements of our time together point to the Word, and our response flows from the Word. It is the very core of our worship.

  • Diversity. God's heart is for the whole world. As we worship, we are intentional about elements that help us see cross-culturally. As our worldview broadens, worship helps us capture God's vision for the whole world in worship.

  • Community. There is meaning and purpose behind gathering together in worship--it is more than "1,000 individual voices" together--we are, in fact, one voice together.
